I'd like to proudly proclaim that I didn't listen to that asinine state of the union address. From what I heard (we're going to make it illegal for gays to get married, we have a huge deficit because of my capital gains tax cut but lets spend even more money on drug testing high schoolers, the economy is in great shape, we must stay the course in Iraq - the bloody stupid course of playing sitting duck to every pissed off Ba'athist and terrorist while continuing to piss off the rest of the world) I think I would have kicked my television in had I had to endure that bullshit. Besides I didn't want to get rid of my buzz from the fact that Kerry won in Iowa. New Hampshire will probably do that for me.
But the day before yesterday I FINALLY saw Better Luck Tomorrow - the Asian teens as asocial nerds AND mafia type gangbangers. The one recognizable actor I had to stare at for awhile because he was supposed to be cool in this movie - then I realized that he was the guy that pissed on Stiffler in American Pie 2. It was pretty good. I'm still wondering why the Korean adoptee character (named Stephanie - because if you adopt a baby from Asia you NEED to name her or him the most WASPish name ever - Ginger, Diane, Leiff - these are ACTUAL names of Korean adoptees I've known) EXCLUSIVELY hangs out with Asians throughout the movie. It seemed strange to me. But it was still pretty good. Maybe not worth the hype but Hollywood (it's close - shut up) could have definitely stocked more than one copy.
