I'm a very happy geek!
Aug. 14th, 2004 12:43 amFirst news of Doctor Who coming back in January (with Christopher Eccleston as teh doctor) and now...
"Hi. I'm the police detective that will follow you until the ends of the earth because you have done wrong and I am incapable of believing tha tyou will ever improve because were I to believe that my entire world would crash around me."
"OK. Now could you step aside so I can shoot this demon?"
So I'm good.
Of coruse Alien vs. Predator is out. I will see it. Even knowing that it's probably crap. I did see Freddy vs. Jason. Of course they can keep combining
Freddy vs. Predator - Freddy keeps invading his dreams and asking him when he's going to run for governor.
Alien vs. Jason - Jason keeps coming after aliens lay eggs in him. So they just keep laying those eggs - unfortunately all the naked women having sex are too squicked out by the aliens to stick around.
Tomie vs. teh Freaky Dead Girl from the Ring - one snarls and the other one giggles. One kills anyone watchig a videotape while the other one drives all the men so crazy that they kill each other, kill her and then mutilate themselves only to get haunted when she comes back from the dead to pull that school girl act again - nowhere really to go with this one.
Tomie vs. Jason - he kills her. She comes back. He kills again. She comes back again. Everyone else at the camp has killed each other. He goes back into the lake and sulks until she goes back to Japan already.
IDW Gets GrimjackI remember when Grimjack ended. 1991 during the first Gulf War. I remember this because I was going to the protests and I was so sick of the anti-war protesters with their "everyone get in file and chant the same fucking chants over and over again" bullshit that I started "debating" with the anti-protester protesters and well that just kind of fell into easy conversation and I spent most of my time talking to the guy with the "Save a Flag. Burn a Flagburner" sign about Grimjack. Although I was rather surprised that he didn't see Grimjack dying off in the 81st issue. He thought it was going to be Javert (the "villain" of the last story arc - but pretty much like the Les Miserables character for which he's based - of course sticking a character like Javert into a comic series that really played pretty close to the Raymond Chandler noir style was just weird.
New Comics and Books in 05
June 04, 2004
IDW Publishing has announced that it will publish collected editions of the Grimjack comics originally published by First Comics back in the '80s (now that they're freed from legal entanglements, see "Grimjack Freed"), as well as a new six-issue comic series by the original creators, writer John Ostrander and artist Tim Truman, beginning early next year.
The first Grimjack trade paperback will collect the backup stories originally published in Starslayer, along with the book-length Grimjack/Starslayer crossover. Ostrander and Truman will also provide a new eight-page story for this trade paperback collection, with Truman painting a new cover.
