Of course my predictions don't mean much. I am also optimistic in believing that First Avenue will soon reopen under new/old management of Steve McEllan (sic) and the other guy who really made First Avenue into the legend that it is today. The fact that Fingerhut closed its doors and filed bankruptcy is only bad in a shock sort of way, but since Fingerhut's corporate fingers have been interfering with operations, it's good that they are gone.
Then again maybe I shouldn't speak.
What we need now is a Democratic version of the Contract with America that led to a Republican sweep of the house in 1994, but to do that we need a lot more candidates like the Senator from Illinois and Paul Wellstone and a lot less "well me too" Democrats that try to sound like their Republican opponents (witness Michael Dukakis responding to the liberal accusation by jumping in a tank)
