Of course my predictions don't mean much. I am also optimistic in believing that First Avenue will soon reopen under new/old management of Steve McEllan (sic) and the other guy who really made First Avenue into the legend that it is today. The fact that Fingerhut closed its doors and filed bankruptcy is only bad in a shock sort of way, but since Fingerhut's corporate fingers have been interfering with operations, it's good that they are gone.

Then again maybe I shouldn't speak.

What we need now is a Democratic version of the Contract with America that led to a Republican sweep of the house in 1994, but to do that we need a lot more candidates like the Senator from Illinois and Paul Wellstone and a lot less "well me too" Democrats that try to sound like their Republican opponents (witness Michael Dukakis responding to the liberal accusation by jumping in a tank)

When someone offers to help you move and then backs out and your only option is taking your shit on the fucking subway which is ok for the first block and then the wheels fall off the wooden thing that you are using to transport it (I was using it as a desk, it's more of a television stand and cabinet - however now it's kindling) it's really aggravating. When that same person wants to come over on Shabbos even though it violates yichud (men and women alone in the same room without being married) which I'm not always careful with but in this case I'm getting there, but has no concern that the apartment is going to be a fucking warehouse because now you have to transport everything one thing at a time, it's obnoxious. And when this person calls at midnight to say hi and then asks "why don't you always answer the phone when I call" it's downright disturbing.

And I attached my speakers to the computer so I can get television. I can't get sound on the DVD part of it - well consistant sound.

Now I just have to hunt around for a place to put all my shit - and hopefully the guy I'm subletting from will come and get his shit becaus I can't stuff it ALL in the closet (especially when one closet is already stuffed) but I don't think I will stay at this place either. It's too expensive for what it is - a dumpy studio and I know that there are cheaper places in the neighborhood. On the other hand if I live in Washington Heights it will be easier to find those other places. And I don't want roommates - just a slightly cheaper and nicer stuido. I heard abotu ones for $800. This one is way too much at $1050 - although I could afford it if I stop eating out all the time.

But I'm going to be moving all fucking week because friend with car can't be bothered to come on Tuesday. Friend with car is quickly becoming weird stalker girl with car. But she does have a car. Which is still better than pay $200 to move a bunch of stuff across town. Which reminds me that i have to cancel that moving company (I can't fit the couch in the new place - no point in paying to have my boxes moved even if that's about a dozen more long subway trips - well I catch up on my reading.)

And really folks - asking voters to fire the president is a tough sell any election year and in the middle of a war it was going to be hard going. And Kerry hasn't lost yet.

And David Hasselhoff pleaded guilty to drunk driving charges. He's automatically funny right? Actually really. I could never understand the jokes. I mean sure he's an actor whose primarily known for guilty pleasure roles. I'm sure he also auditioned for Shakespearean roles and the like, and you can't really fault him for sticking around in a successful series since it is a steady paycheck and that's harder to get for actors (or anyone in the artistic field) than most.

Of course the principal from Ferris Bueller's Day Off is facing charges of possessing kiddie porn. That's just wrong.

Well I'm trying to take my mind off the election - and the fucking move.

According to a few news sources, Kerry conceded. Of course the country is still sharply divided and the gay marriage amendments are going to take years to eliminate. Obama is a winner and will probably win in 2016 for President. The mayor of San Francisco probably doesn't have a shot at Governor as long as Schwarzennegger is in office, but Representative or Senator could work. Now it's about the House of Representatives. Need to get into the rural areas. 2006 will have to be the year to lose that bullshit attitude that everyone that votes Republican is stupid, evil, homophobic and all that. I mean voting Republican in one election or every election. Ok, maybe I'm tying this in with the bullshit New York attitude that nothing happens West of the Hudson until you get to Los Angeles. You know how many times a day I say that I'm from Minnesota where all the good music comes from? And not everyone that votes Republican voted for those awful anti-gay marriage amendments either.

Of course Renquist's replacement will be another rightwinger. Just hoping that the rest of the Supreme Court justices stay healthy in the next four years. Renquist getting replaced by a rightwinger is nothing new. One of the liberals or moderates getting replaced is going to be devastating. Scalia and Thomas already have too much influence.

Mr. Mxyzptlk will be on Smallville tonight. It's like they've finally decided to start adding material in from actual Superman comics and 86 those damn kryptonite mutants. Flash, Lois Lane and now the coolest villain (?) in Superman comics. Of course the funny part about that one was always getting him to say his name backwards - and trying to figure out the pronunciation (Mixy - plik? Mixy potluck?)

Of course I know that everyone has abandoned Smallville for Lost but I just thought I'd mention that. I haven't watched it all season because I haven't had a television.
