194.Windhaven: A Graphic Novel by George R.R. Martin, Lisa Tuttle & Elsa Charretier - This is a weird one since the person who adapted the novel is not even mentioned. It's only art by Elsa Charretier. Granted, a lot of this adaptation is straight from the book but it's still weird to think that either GRRM or Tuttle were doing the comic book scripts. Tuttle does imply that she was the one doing the most writing for it and working with the artists but it's still strange that it was directly done with them.

And how is it? I like it. I mean the art isn't the most original or amazing art in comic book history. It's still a great story. Or three great stories about the collapse of a particular tradition and how the people who have relied on the tradition must move on. Maris, the heroine is first seen breaking the tradition, stealing wings and convincing everyone to let non-family flyers compete for the wings. This is a fairly straightforward look at the world and it makes sense that Maris wants to fly while her stepbrother who is the true heir of the wings is afraid for flying. The second chapter asks what happens when this tradition breaks down and you don't like everyone who is winning those new wings. The Wood Wings chapter says that the guy who wins the wings could be a total asshole. More importantly, the person he wins them from could be emotionally devastated by the loss and die soon afterwards. So what do you do when people nominally support the new traditions but also feel the old traditions in their bones.

And then in the last bit we get Maris crashed and dealing with never being able to fly again. She can still stand up for the flyers against the politicians who want all the power. The art is fine. It's not amazing. It's just fine. So is it worth reading? Sure. I might have waited a few more years since this is nothing new and I just read the book this year, but it's fine.

195.Fire Punch 4 by Tatsuki Fujimoto - And our hero is now being worshiped as a god because he saved a bunch of slaves. Only he killed hundreds of people doing that and this does not sit well with him. Furthmermore, the witch who turned the world into a winter dystopia shows up. Or someone claiming to be her shows up. There's a lot of material about death and rebirth and going forward. I'm interested to see how this one ends but like I said in previous reviews of previous installments (several I didn't like) this is Fujimoto at his most basic. It's a lot of "fuck that's wild" and amateurish art but not as much emotional impact as you get in Chainsaw Man or his less fantastic mangas.
