The Books on Tape selection at the New York libraries is apparently engineered to suck. All they got are self-help books and mysteries. A few classics but the selection is subpar. I keep thinking that I'm going to run out at any one librarie. Or maybe I just haven't found the right collection. Either way it sucks that I can only watch DVDs because the video selection seems cool.
I'm listening to Jupiter's Bones by Faye Kellerman. The novelty of an Orthodox Jewish detective as the main character only sustains for so long but thankfully it's a cool book about mind control cults and the people that join to abuse them. I am very much liking it, and if it's a trifle Ed McBain, it's still a pretty good book nonetheless. And imitating Ed McBain isn't too much of a crime. Imitating that guy that wrote the DaVinci Code should be a federal offense.
