209.Spa by Erik Svetoft - The art is pedestrian. The story is non-existent. This is basically a 200 page nightmare which takes the whole dreaming thing seriously as it never makes any sense and everyone acts as if they are in a dream. A couple is in bed. There are rotting people staring at them. Then the couple is at the window staring at the rotting people. This is pretty much what happens throughout the thing.

210.Blue is the Warmest Color by Julie Maroh - Oh this one is beautiful. This is one of the most beautifully rendered comic books I've ever read. At first, I was thinking "ooh this is so much better than that dreary art porn movie they made about it" (and really is there any type of art film with real sex that isn't dreary? It's like they want to make up for the audience possibly masturbating to the movie with the most depressing and tired acting in the world. Hell, I still don't know if 9 Songs is trying to capture the claustrophobia of a relationship where everything is gone but the sex so you fuck and hope that it stops being so fucking depressing all the time. I mean that's what it does, but I don't know if that's intentional.

Anyhow, this comic is the basis for the movie with all the ass licking. And it's also pretty bad. It's actually better for a time, but then we get past all the "am I a lesbian or not" coming out parts (including one part where her girlfriend stays over at her family house and walks down to the kitchen naked. Like who the fuck just walks throughout someone else's place naked when there are parents still living there?) But then that ending. Fuck that ending. Apparently the movie (and I forget most of that movie) ends with them just breaking up and not really having much in common. This ends with our heroine dying from a heart condition that was exasperated by pill popping. Oh yeah, it also skips ahead 12 years to her being 30.

So she's 30, living with that girlfriend with the blue hair (who no longer has blue hair) and cheating on her. And then crying about it. Then dying. Seriously, figure out a better ending than this Love Story bullshit. Ugh.
