I took my last Calculus Final in 1991. Afterwards I saw Silence of the Lambs. It was the perfect movie for that kind of stress. Tonight I'm planning on going to a sneak of Blade III, although movie tickets were ads in The Village Voice so I'm thinking that i might not get in. That would ease my stress.

The thing I think about sometimes is the fact that I was good at Math. I could get into a groove where I understood things that no one else could get, and actually working out the problems was kind of exciting. Especially when you get to the end and everything checks out. I also liked Logic syllogisms. I stopped because as much i liked it, overall I found it boring.

Sometimes I'm tempted to buy a Calculus book and start working out math problems again.

For absolutely no reason except for the fact that I miss it.

That's my confession for today.

Boy, that sounds familiar. Were you on the math team in high school too? Did you secretly enjoy the logic section of the GRE?

Nope. They wanted me to join but I begged off. Same as with debate team.

Theater and band for me.

I'm a geek not a nerd.

I was recruited too (but successfully). You have to be a real nerd to sign up for it voluntarily.

I was also a geek, but only semi-successful: did theater, got kicked out of chorus. For attendance reasons.

Really.

And may I suggest that your making this post suggests you are a nerd at heart?

you miss calculus?
I mean, I knew you were strange beforehand but this is just terrifying?! =p

If it makes you feel any less twisted, I miss the proofs from geometry.

All invalid syllogisms have one false premise
This syllogism has one false premise
therefore this syllogism is invalid.

Hey, doesn't sound entirely crazy. I keep on telling myself I'll sit down and re-teach myself calculus over various summer/winter breaks.

Except that it hasn't actually happened yet, and I have the books. Two of them, even.
