Liking Poe

That's all.

Oh and I'm happy that it's Thursday and "Til Death" is premiering - just because this is traditionally the time to pull back on those damn commercials. You know I almost wanted to see the thing back in May when they started advertising it. Now I can't wait for it to fall off the network. Married with Raymond is just not exciting. Man, I don't want to hear another disgruntled old couple marriage joke again.

Oh and saw Justice last night. I liked Amanda Seyfried. The show's premise seemed intriguing - but you know if you show the murder at the end of the episode, maybe you should show something BESIDES the murder the way the lawyers have established it in the first 45 minutes. It's not like it's terribly exciting to see the same thing that's been discussed already. And if it's going to be the formula to have the lawyers WIN every episode followed by the murder happening EXACTLY THE WAY they established, it's going to get very boring. Now if they lost once in awhile or they won but the murderer is going free, I would like to see it. But as it stands now, it's dull.

I'm also having pains about House being wracked with self-doubts because Cutty isn't telling him that he's right. But that will pass. Granted, characters need to develop and change, but House really must be the arrogant pill popper or it's going to feel wrong - like with that love story they tried to pull last season.

And I like Bones. TOo bad I won't see any episodes until December now. But that's another one of those shows where you know it's a ripoff but you like watching the characters.

So are there any new shows that aren't CSI, Lost or House ripoffs? Besides the boring situation comedy I mentioned at the beginning of this entry...

hee. always happy to find another poe fan =)

justice is ok. hoenstly, though it gets a bit hard to get into it when the only thing keeping you watching is finding out whether the person was guilty at the end of the show. there isn't much to like about the characters.

looooove bones. and house. =) vanished has been very good so far. otherwise, most of the shows are kinda meh so far this season.

Got a feeling that if Fox wants a powerhouse night they'll run Bones and House together, but that's doubtful since they need these shows to prop up their weak offerings.

I was actually waiting around for Justice to get around to showing the murder. I can't believe they really showed it happening exactly how they established it.

yeah, and the same thing happened last week. if they do that every week, or even the majority of weeks, the show will suck.

bones and house aired the same night for part of the season last year. I miss that. =( I wasn't very impressed by the standoff show following house, either. it was ok. but, nothing extraordinary.

I keep seeing ads on abc for this new show called something like men in trees, which looks like a northern exposure rip off with no doctor.

Saw that. I don't hate it nearly as much as 'Til Death. Oh and that show about all the Friends types that were in grade school together - especially when the whole thing has the tagline "your best friends are your first ones" - as if I could ever remember the names of the people I was in third grade with much less consider them best friends evah.

I rarely watch CBS as it is. that class show is on there, right? not interested.

I am looking forward to the return of the war at home on fox, and to the new show on nbc with john lithgow and jeffrey tambor.

otherwise, not impressed.

I'm trying to think of anything that I saw in the new shows that even begins to excite me.

Well there WAS Justice. Then I saw it. Heroes might be cool. It could be very stupid as well. I am looking forward to seeing new episodes of the shows I already like - Veronica Mars, The Office, etc. - but none of the new ones strike me as terribly original.

Oh Studio 60 looks good. That's about it.

I think it's the same Poe, but not entirely sure, who did the supplemental album to Danielewski's novel House of Leaves. If you haven't read that, you might give it a go. It's almost as if e. e. cummings had written novels instead of poetry. Check it out here (http://www.amazon.com/House-Leaves-Full-Color-Mark-Danielewski/dp/0375703764/sr=8-1/qid=1157690826/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-0506122-6021448?ie=UTF8&s=books). And I don't know how much you're into reading about music, but Chuck Klosterman's novel Killing Yourself to Live is about his journey across America visiting landmarks of deaths in rock music. I think he attempts to come up with a theory as to why some musicians begin living after they've died, but instead writes an odd love story. That's probably the best way to describe it. It's not bad. Check it out here (http://www.amazon.com/Killing-Yourself-Live-True-Story/dp/0743264460/sr=1-2/qid=1157691250/ref=pd_bbs_2/103-0506122-6021448?ie=UTF8&s=books). His other book, Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs is also pretty good if you like social commentary. I really hope I haven't mentioned these before. The only reason I do now is because Klosterman is signing books near me tomorrow and I plan on going.

Later.

It's her. I was looking her up on youtube because of that book. I read the book too. Very strange. Liked it.
